With evening and weekend classes now offered at community colleges and public universities, universities like DeVry are no longer filling the niche they claim to occupy. After completing their AA in Accounting program, I was unable to transfer the degree to FIU; I was told that FIU does not accept associate degrees from DeVry. I enrolled in DeVry under the expectation that I would be able to complete the program quickly, but this was not the case. Their semester is divided into 2 sessions of 8 weeks in which you take 2 classes per semester. This amounts to 4 classes per semester-- the same kind of track as a conventional school. My program was 65 credits, and with both grants and loans I was hardly approved to take 12 credits. Much of the coursework, regardless if you take online or on-site courses, is a generic-cut bookwork where via screenshots, examples, and directions, you are told exactly how to complete the majority of the exercises and assignments. All graded assignments are open book, open note, and open Internet. I learned more in my one high school accounting class than any of the courses offered here. On top of it, I now have a $30k financial weight on my back.
I had an opportunity to come to school and developed and enhanced my personal and professional skills. I was very pleased with the support received from all professors and staff in Miramar Campus.
Finally, I would like to thank Dean Wilborn, Professor Adam Moss, Sarah Nielsen, Jerry Durbeej, Edwin Hill, and Robert O’Connell because they all played an important part since I started back in September 2007.
Great campus environment and classes were meaningful
Also, I would like to thank all the career services staff because they have encouraged me to achieve my professional goals. Tony Cobas and Nelly Leon are great individuals who are willing to help students to succeed.
Special recognition for Professors Ed Hill, Jermaine McCarthy and Robert O'Connell!!
I am certain that higher education provides tools to be competitive for the future; however, DeVry University has helped me to achieve my professional goals.

And for a comparison, my husband also completed DeVry's BS in Networking and was able to get a job before finishing school. However, even he has admitted that he didn't learn much from DeVry itself. Most of what he learned was from a particular teacher that he would reference even after leaving this professor's class.
It has been a difficult, but rewarding journey. I will do it all over again.
The campus is beautiful. It isn't large, but it offers all that you need in a school. I worked on my Masters in Accounting with Keller, and I am very impressed with the program, which integrates the Becker Review with the Master's program.
From the day I met with the regristration office to my last class on campus I have felt welcomed and truly cared for as a student. The interaction with other students, professors and staff is always a warm and exciting experience. I am employed else where full-time and attend evening / online classes. The professors are great at understanding life's demands since most of them are professionals during the day as well. The interactions with my fellow classmates was amazing as well, the environment lends itself to team work, collaboration and self learning as well. I will finish my classes this Fall and will Graduate with Honors thanks to DeVry, my fellow classmates and my professors!
Although I will finish with my Bachelor’s in Science (Computer Information Systems) in October 2013, I had the opportunity to meet great individuals on campus. I am looking to continue moving forward, and find a professional opportunity where I can apply my knowledge and expertise.
I went there from 2014 to 2016. What a waste of time and money. I was pursuing a bachelor degree only to realize most credits there aren't transferable the way you would think. In the end I was left in a limbo because there weren't enough students to continue and they offered me a version of an unacreddited program online vs acreditted onsite. Don't go there. The staff gets things done whenever you are paying pretty penny. When I needed things from them after I left be prepared for a surprise.
These are our two experiences, but both of us wish we would have considered the public and private NON-profit schools more. Please consider your options before choosing to enroll.
Sincerely,
